Insert inserts and brackets in plastic protective caps

Scope

Turnkey delivery;

  • Feasibility study (technical and commercial)
  • Draw up specifications.
  • Concept, technical design, construction and commissioning

Purpose

Benefit for client;

  • Flexibility for large variety in the components themselves.
  • High degree of reliability, so quality-enhancing.
  • High level of reuse tooling after life cycle current product.
  • Low production costs (labour costs and availability) due to far-reaching automation and increase capacity.

Goal

Fully automatic assembly line for insertion of inserts and brackets and screwing these components into plastic protective caps.

Issue Definability

The difficulty in accurate assembly processes of dimension-resistant components in relatively large and flawed plastic objects are the tolerances and the in-definability of the placement accuracy of these parts relative to each other. Here again there is a need for a high degree of flexibility with regard to different types of products. We also had the challenge to run autonomously around 1 hour, while large plastic caps should be buffered on a relatively limited floor area.

Approach

The solution for the tolerances and different types has been found in a self-correcting robot system Batch measurements automatically adjust the movement patterns. The autonomous rotation has been solved by applying two high vertical buffers of 5 meters. These buffers, with automatic stack and unmounted functions, and assembly positions are linked to each other by three product listings, each of which is independently switched.
